The Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS) is an automated FSC2 system that processes,
analyzes, and exchanges combat information among the U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) and
other Joint architectures. AFATDS provides fully automated support for planning, coordinating,
controlling, and executing fires and effects. It supports weapon systems such as mortars, field artillery
cannons, rockets and missiles, close air support, attack aviation, and naval surface fire support systems
Description: Seeking a career officer or senior non-Commissioned office (NCO) with strong experience
in Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS) data management, Fire Direction, Analysis
and Logistics. Position is both CONUS and OCONUS. Initial assignment includes 2 months of stateside
training and 12 months OCONUS operations. Basic role is to provide in-country representation to
allied/friendly governments in AFATDS acquisition, sustainment, integration with related fire control
data systems, and operations and serve as manufacturers’ Point of Contact. Army 13F / 131A / 13A or
USMC 0861 / 08023 / 0803 rated.
Work Location: CONUS / OCONUS. May be able to work / deploy from home state.
Specific Tasks: Monitor and train AFATDS personnel to maintain the fires database, operate the
AFATDS computer in the Fire Direction Center, oversee Paladin (M109A6) and other fire support system
operations, maintain the fires database, Conduct fire support training.
Operational Experience with AFATDS in supporting fire control missions and exercises. Operating
familiarity to understand how to
Ensure or Conduct fire support training.
Safely control fire from artillery, Multiple Launch Rocket Systems, tactical ballistic missiles, etc.
Maintain the fires database, operate the AFATDS computer in the Fire Direction Center, oversee
Paladin (M109A6) and other fire support system operations, and support integration of aviation
USMC, allied, or other fire control systems.
Assess failures and ensure that repair actions are scheduled and needed parts are ordered.
Document warranty actions and ensure adequate inventory of parts.
Install and test updates,
Tactical Internet, data, communications and mission command Tactical C3 experience
STRONG PLUS: Familiarity with overall field command architecture and components, including
Command Post of the Future (CPOF), Command Post Computing Environment (CPCE), Forward Area
Air Defense Command and Control (FAADC2), Air and Missile Defense Workstation (AMDWS),
Tactical Air Integration System (TAIS), Air Defense Systems Integrator (ADSI), Blue Force Tracking
(BFT), Global Command and Control System-Army (GCCS-A), Multilateral Interoperability Programme
(MIP), and associated servers on the Battle Command Common Services (BCCS) or Tactical Services
Infrastructure (TSI) Stacks.
Education
Technical Master’s degree and 6 years AFATDS or Fire Control experience or;
Technical Bachelor’s degree and 8 years AFATDS or Fire Control experience or;
Associates degree or relevant IT certifications and 6 years AFATDS or Fire Control experience
Ten years active duty AFATDS or Fire Control experience
SECRET security clearance highly desired

Compensation
Salary negotiated commensurate with AFATDS Operational experience and confidence in ability to
succeed in a multinational environment.
